(WFXG) - Nearly one hundred people are dead after an outbreak of tornados swept across five states last week.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says seventy-four people are dead in his state and fourteen are dead in Illinois, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri. However, it could still take days to calculate the final death toll because of the sheer amount of devastation left behind by the storms.

Searches continue for those still missing, efforts are also turning to repairing the power grid, sheltering those whose homes were destroyed and delivering drinking water and other supplies. Kentucky officials have warned that residents could be without heat, water or electricity in frigid temperatures for weeks or longer.
