AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - Former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal made a stop in Augusta Thursday. He addressed Cyber Future Summit attendees at the Georgia Cyber Center. The Summit focuses on discussions towards the establishment of a trusted and collaborative global cyber platform, especially post-pandemic.

Gov. Deal was among the more than 50 speakers invited to participate in the three-day event. He discussed Augusta’s role in cyber space and shared his perspective on the importance of the Georgia Cyber Center. This is the Summit’s first time in Augusta, and Gov. Deal’s first time being a part of this event.

Gov. Deal tells FOX54 he's grateful to see the Georgia Cyber Center become a hub for many government, industry and academia experts.

“I’m just pleased to have had the vision imposed upon me, or shared with me, by a great team. We all knew that we had something important, we didn’t quite honestly know how important it was going to turn out to be. It’s one of those ideas that continues to mushroom and that’s good for everybody.” said Gov. Deal.

Cyber Future Foundation also gave Deal a ‘Cyber Futurist’ award. It’s dedicated to Deal for his contributions to cyber security.
