Thomson High School placed on lockdown after potential threat

THOMSON, Ga. (WFXG) - Thomson High School was placed on lockdown after a potential threat Wednesday morning.
According to school officials, Thomson High School was notified by dispatch of a potential threat.
Officials say school and district administrators followed the protocols in the safety plan, immediately working with local authorities and the McDuffie County Schools Department of Public Safety.
"As with all matters of student safety, we have taken this very seriously and have acted accordingly, utilizing both the appropriate laws and the Safe Schools Plan," said the McDuffie County School System.
Through the newly implemented Centegix Crisis Alert System, Thomson High School was then placed on lockdown within less than one minute of receiving the 911 call.
According to the School System, within a matter of minutes, the threat was removed by law enforcement.
All students and staff are safe, said officials.
"As always, the safety and security of the students, faculty and staff members remain our top priority, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure a safe and secure learning environment," said School System.
