AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Many people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic. Now, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is looking to help. They have jobs ranging from juvenile correction officers, food services, house keepers and social service counselors.

Regional Recruiting Talent Acquisition Manager at Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Terry Lee, says, “We’re always looking for a great staff to come and join our team.”

Along with the benefits provided, they're also under new leadership. This allows them a whole new holistic approach when providing services to the youth. “One of the biggest joys that we hear from most of our employees is the satisfaction they receive from being able to give back to the community and give back to the state of Georgia," says Lee.

During the pandemic, they've had to adjust in order to increase the amount of interested people who would like to come work with them.

“With all that’s going on in the world and unemployment rates so high, we just want people to know and understand that we have opportunities they can take advantage of, and with that opportunity, they’re able to give back to the community simultaneously.”

They're hopeful the work they do will continuously make an impact on the community. “We are helping to rehabilitate them so they can go back into society and hopefully be who we are. Be on the side of this screen, rehabilitated and able help others get jobs and help others do things that will positively impact the community.”

Lee says their work is completely community based. Their overall mission is to provide rehabilitative services to the youth.
