RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has identified a suspect in Saturday's shooting at the Augusta Mall.

Authorities say 37-year-old Tony Burton is responsible for the shooting death of Derrell Little. 

Officials have also identified the female bystander who was shot during the altercation as 20-year-old Aubrey Adams, at this time she is in stable condition.

Burton is facing Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime charges and is currently being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. 

 

FOX 54 has learned that the victim shot during an Augusta Mall altercation has now died from his injuries. 

According to the coroner's office, 26-year-old Derrell Little of Fayetteville Dr. was transported to Augusta University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m. 

An autopsy will be done at the GBI Crime Lab on Monday according to authorities.

FOX 54 was the first on the scene of reports of shots fired at the Augusta Mall. 

According to Richmond County Sheriff's Office, the call came in at 2:53 p.m. Saturday afternoon. They say two men were involved in an altercation, one of which pulled out a gun. Investigators say once a struggle over the gun began one of the subjects was shot several times. They say a female bystander was also shot during the altercation. Both were later transported to a local hospital where the female is said to have non-life-threatening injuries. 

Still no word on the condition of the subject who was shot several times condition according to investigators.

At this time, authorities have taken one suspect into custody, no other suspects are believed to be involved at this time. Authorities say there is no danger to the public at this time.
