UPDATE: Katherine Street in Grovetown will remain closed through Saturday

GROVETOWN, GA (WFXG) - The City of Grovetown wants motorists to known that Katherine St. is temporarily closed and will remain so on Saturday.

According to officials, the crossing arms at the railroad track won't lower when a train comes through. Crews will be working through Saturday to fix the malfunction.

Drivers entering from the Horizon South Parkway area should use Old Wrightsboro Rd.

Motorists are advised to avoid the railroad crossing at Katherine St. and Wrightsboro Rd. 

Grovetown Department of Public Safety wants drivers to know that the crossing arms have malfunctioned and locked in the down position, according to a post on its Facebook page.

At the tracks, traffic on Katherine St. is being diverted to Dorn St., and motorists on Wrightsboro Rd. are being asked to take Old Wrightsboro Rd. toward West Robinson Ave.
