RICHMOND COUNTY (WFXG) - Augusta Fire and EMA will host its 4th free COVID-19 testing on June 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

According to fire officials in their first three events, Augusta Fire, Georgia Department of Health (DPH), and Christ Community Health officials tested 1,130 people. At the last event, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church 495 people, which set a new single-day testing record for the DPH East Central District.

“The fact that more people come out after each event shows there’s a need in Augusta,” said Fire Chief/EMA Director Christopher E. James. “We’re returning downtown to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to get tested.”

The event will take place at Fire Station 1 on 1 Broad St.

Walk-ups will be accepted but Augusta Fire says pre-registration is strongly encouraged to avoid long wait times. Those interested should call 3-1-1 or 706-821-2300 to pre-register.
