AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Richmond County Schools have a new Superintendent: Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw.

In a meeting Thursday, August 22, the school board unanimously voted to hire Dr. Bradshaw. After the vote, those in attendance gave a standing ovation.

Dr. Bradshaw addressed the crowd, “I will not let you down.” After thanking the school board and Dr. Angela Pringle, he said, "I look forward to serving the boys and girls of the Richmond County School System, and I commit to you today that I will continue making this school system the best in the state and the best in the nation.”

Dr. Bradshaw is coming to the district from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He previously worked in our school system and was in the top three for superintendent when the school board was hiring five years ago. School board members said they were excited to have him back with our schools. President of the board, Jimmy Atkins, said, “He guaranteed this board he would not let us down, and we know that he won’t. We’re happy to have he and his family back in Richmond County, and we’re just ready for him to get here and get started.”

He will start September 5, after ten days that allow public scrutiny.
