RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - Losing a loved one is never easy - and a traumatic loss to violence can be hard to overcome. A local support group for parents of murdered children held an event to bring grieving families together.
Angel Hearts Support Group's 5th annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims took place at May Park Community Center. It started with a mile walk and featured a slide show of murder victims, a balloon release and more.
The founder's son, Corey Joseph, was 21 when he was killed by someone he gave a ride to back in 2007.
"You don't ever want to forget - for me - my heart. Corey was my heart. And I don't ever want him to be forgotten by anyone or how he died or what happened to him."
Angel Hearts Support Group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
