A business in Augusta is helping displaced animals from Hurricane Florence

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - People from a local business in Richmond County have dedicated their time and their facility to helping displaced animals from Hurricane Florence. Bricko Farms is holding cats and dogs from a Humane Society in South Carolina.

Courtney Wise, a volunteer, says the community has been very supportive with donations and volunteering their time. A local shelter, Southern Souls, is donating 8 pallets of food and supplies to help the displaced animals.

Right now, they are holding 8 dogs and 16 cats. Wise says they expect to get around 200 animals to hold until they are transferred to another area. "This is a transfer station; we are not a take-in facility, we are not a rescue facility, we are just a transfer station. So they're staying here, we're keeping them healthy and well while they're here and then they'll be getting on trucks and going west of here to various states that have already committed to taking the animals," Wise said.

Those at Bricko Farms are accepting volunteers to help walk the dogs, they ask that you go to their Facebook page instead of calling.
