(WFXG) - The City of Aiken is set to receive a check for unclaimed funds from the South Carolina Treasurer's Office for $9,500.00.
The check comes as a move from the Treasure's Office to encourage folks to "claim your cash." There's over $550 million in unclaimed property available to Palmetto State citizens and business.
More than $158 million, in unclaimed funds, were returned since 2011.
You can check to see if you have any money waiting to be claimed on the state's treasury site, here.
"Now is the perfect time to search the State Treasurer's website for unclaimed property because valid claims received in September will be processed for payment in plenty of time for the holiday season," South Carolina State Treasurer, Curtis Loftis, said in a statement.
