UPDATE: Richmond County Sheriff's Office Deputy injured in high-speed chase

Update: Richmond County Sheriff's Office Deputy Wesley Stallings was injured in high-speed chase, currently being treated at local area hospital for multiple broken bones, and will undergo surgery for his injuries. His recovery is estimated in upcoming months.

Deputy Stallings was traveling east on Aiken-Augusta highway in pursuit of a vehicle that previously evaded deputies.

Deputy Stallings crested the hill at Greg's gas station, where there was water on the roadway from sprinklers. Deputy Stallings struck the curb in the curve of the road, entered the median, and struck a tree.

His car continued across the eastbound lanes, left the roadway, went over a hill and embankment coming to a rest in the parking lot of a garage.

Deputy Stallings is being treated at a local area hospital with multiple broken bones and will undergo surgery for his injuries.

A high-speed chase ends in a collision with injuries on Jefferson Davis Highway and the suspect fleeing the scene on foot.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office confirms at approximately 1:30 a.m, a Richmond County officer was in pursuit of a suspect.

The chase ended on Jefferson Davis Highway, where a collision took place and the suspect fleeing the scene.

Aiken County Sheriff's Office has crews on the scene and searching for the suspect.
