Father dead, son injured in Aiken single car crash

AIKEN, SC (WFXG) - A man has died, and his son injured, after a single car crash in Aiken early this morning.

Daniel Lewallen was driving a 2002 Ford F150 with his son in the passenger seat when he failed to stop at a stop sign on Storm Branch Road. They crossed over Silver Bluff Road and struck a large tree.

The 69-year-old Bath, South Carolina resident was pronounced dead on the scene. His son, the passenger was taken to Augusta University Medical Center. They had been traveling to go hunting this morning when the crash happened around 6:54.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating. A toxicology report being done. Lewallen's son's full name and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
