AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - September is pediatric cancer awareness month. Childrens Hospital of Georgia got started a little early today with their brave the shave event.
Forty-four people signed up to shave their heads in the lobby of the hospital. Others who stumbled on the event jumped in as well. There were men, women, and even current patients shaving their heads. Every participant was asked to fundraise at least $100.
Daniel Stewart is among the people who shaved their heads. "Giving money to the Childrens Hospital, spending time volunteering; its just an unbelievable feeling to be able to participate a little bit."
So far, over 400 donors have raised more than $17,000 for the Childrens Hospital with the brave the shave event.
As the event wrapped up, children from the hospital hung golden ribbons on trees outside that will stay up through September.
