AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - We're learning new information about 15-year-old Brad Bishop, who investigators say shot and killed his 61-year-old legal guardian and grandfather Victor Perkins.
"No it didn't surprise me, it shocked me. I really thought they had a better relationship then that," says friend of the family Darryl Pierce. He says all he is has left now is memories of his friend and an uneasy feeling towards the teen accused of murdering him. "He would come over here and stay all night with my grandson."
Richmond County Investigators say they responded to a call from Bishop himself late Saturday night, confessing to the murder. But Pierce told FOX 54 before he made that call, Bishop told a close friend: Pierce's grandson. Pierce went on to say that his grandson told Bishop to turn himself in. "I tell these kids it just takes an instance to get yourself in trouble; it can take a lifetime to get out of it."
Now with the 15-year-old facing murder charges in the Richmond County Youth Detention Center, Pierce is left wondering if there were any signs that he missed that could have warned him that Bishop was capable of committing this crime. "I just thought they had a great relationship because I never seen all of this stuff before."
Investigators say this is still an ongoing investigation. No court date date has been set.
