AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - FOX 54 brought you the story of a suspect sought for the murder of 51-year-old Monique Johnson, who was found in her burning Augusta home on July 20, 2018.
The suspect was identified as Darryl Eugene Walker, and investigators believe Walker may have killed Johnson before fleeing the scene.
Today, FOX 54 has learned that Walker was paroled on September 28, 2016, according to the Department of Corrections website.
He was convicted in Richmond County Superior Court in 2001 for rape, kidnapping with bodily injury, and burglary and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. Walker was sentenced to life in prison plus five years on December 7, 2001.
Johnson's body has been sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. FOX 54 will update you when those results come in and any other new information as it is revealed.
