Parents of 4-year-old who shot himself plead 'not guilty'

The Richmond County parents of a 4-year-old boy who shot himself dead were in court on Friday, July 20. Justin Foss and Shelby Foss pleaded "not guilty" at their 9 a.m arraignment.
On July 7, the life of 4-year old Justin Foss Jr. was tragically taken after he accidentally shot himself at an apartment on Skinner Mill Road. His father Justin Foss and mother Shelby Foss behind bars after the Richmond County Sheriff's office say a loaded Smith and Wesson was left hidden under the couch in reach of their child. Their child was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the shooting occurred.
Court documents state indictments for Justin Foss include:
  • 1 count of felony murder
  • 1 count of murder in the second degree
  • 1 count of cruelty to children in the second degree
  • 1 count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
