WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) - The Burke County Sheriff's Office hosted a "Cops in the Community" event on Monday, July 16, 2018, in Waynesboro, Georgia as part of their community involvement program.
Adults, young adults, and children all joined the fun, fellowship, and football. The event also included great food- hotdogs, ice cream, chips, and sodas.
Burke County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Lewis Blanchard said he met with everyone and solicited their input, and suggestions, as well as asked if they have any problems that needed to be addressed.
Deputy Blanchard also commented that "Working closely with the community helps to keep crime rates down and shows our citizens that we really do care…we don't just talk about it, we do it!"
