AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - On Friday, July 13th at approximately 2:00 am, Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic fatality on I-20 near mile marker 199.
The investigation revealed 22-year-old Flornell Williams of Birmingham, AL was traveling eastbound in the right lane when she struck a pedestrian, who was walking South across I-20.
The pedestrian has been identified as 34-year-old Michael Stuntz of Coats, NC. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Richmond County Coroner's office. The GBI crime lab will perform an autopsy of his body.
Williams was arrested and charged with the following:
- Driving with a Suspended License
- D.U.I of Drugs (two counts) D.U.I with passengers under 14-year-of-age
- No Child Safety Restraint for a child under 8-years-of-age
