Richmond County ranked high for fatal crashes

Thousands of people die in car crashes every year and law enforcement is always warning people to drive safe on the roadways. According to reports collected over the past four years, South Carolina ranks number ten for the safest commute. However, there are specific cities within the state that have the highest percentage of fatal commute crashes. York, South Carolina has more than one in three fatal car accidents happening during commuting hours. Also Florence, South Carolina ranks as the third most dangerous evening commute between 4:00 to 7:00 with over 80% of fatal car accidents occurring.
For the state of Georgia, Richmond County is one of the highest counties with over 30% for fatal crashes. The number of fatal car crashes changes throughout the week but one big factor in those accidents is commuter times. According to a Fatal Analysis Report drivers should understand which times of day are the most dangerous.

Evening commute is more dangerous than morning commute with more than 60% of fatal accidents happen during the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In the morning only a little over 30% fatal accidents happen between 7:00 a.m.  to 10:00 a.m.
The report also concludes the fatal crashes are due to many reasons such as distracted driving and not wearing a seat belt.
