AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Investigators are looking into what caused an early-morning house fire in Augusta.
According to Richmond County dispatch, the call came in at around 3:28 a.m. The fire started near the back of the house. It did not take firefighters long to extinguish the flames. Michael Meyers with Augusta-Richmond County Fire says the cause of the fire is still unknown, but a preliminary finding points to the cause being electrical.
Seven people and two dogs live in the home. All the occupants and one of the dogs were able to get out safely. One of the dogs is believed to have been killed in the fire.
