AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The countdown is approaching for 2018 and downtown Augusta is preparing for the crowd of people coming their way. The Bee's Knees, a tapas restaurant and bar in downtown Augusta, says they're expecting a healthy crowd for New Years Eve.
"It's a very just chill atmosphere, very like quaint. Usually it's couples that come in just looking to start their new year off right. We do get some families. Few of the younger crowd that will come eat here before they go hangout at the bars," says Heather Dunaway, a manager at The Bee's Knees.
They say their reservation book is almost full as residents have already made plans to start off their night at the local eatery. "We do have a lot of reservations. We do special menus for the New year weekend to build up to it. So, we do get a lot of turnout for our special options," says Dunaway.
Dunaway says The Bee's Knees as has been in the area for a while now and the relationships they've built with their customers makes celebrating the evening with them a breeze. "We've been here for 15 years. So, everyone knows to come here because they come here every year. So, we're like a staple. I feel like most places are like, 'Oh I got to work New Years'. But here it's like we kind of celebrate with our guests. So, everyone is sort of coming together and bringing in the New Year the right way," says Dunaway.
Although some locations will be closed New Years Eve evening, residents will still have several options on Broad Street where they can ring in the New Year.
