AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Five of Augusta's goats, used by the city to keep vegetation in check around retention ponds, are dead after dogs attacked the animals.
At least one dog dug underneath a fence at Bradley Court and attacked the seven goats being kept there. Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, Richmond County dispatch notified Augusta Animal Services of the attack. Deputies transported all seven goats to Animal Services for evaluation. Three goats were killed in the attack and Animal Services had to euthanize two more.
This isn't the first time some of the city's goats have been killed. Back in March 2015, thirteen goats were killed in a similar dog attack.
