Flights canceled at Augusta Regional Airport due to lightning strike

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Multiple flights were canceled at Augusta Regional Airport this morning after lightning struck the runway.

Just before 4 a.m the lightning strike caused the lights on the runway's landing strip to go out. Two Delta flights from Augusta to Atlanta were canceled. 50 passengers were booked to board each flight.

Airport officials say most of the passengers have been re-booked on flights leaving later Monday or Tuesday morning. No flights scheduled to leave after 7 a.m were affected by the lightning strike.
