BLYTHE, GA (WFXG) - Two people are dead after an accident Thursday morning in Blythe.
On Thursday morning, 85-year-old Bobby Winters of Hephzibah was driving North on Highway 1. According to witnesses, Winters went through the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 88. The driver of a second vehicle traveling down Highway 88 says she swerved but was unable to prevent the accident. The front passenger side of the second vehicle struck the left side of Winters's vehicle.
Bobby Winters was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m. The passenger of the vehicle, 78-year-old Murl Winters of Hephzibah, later died at Augusta University Medical Center.
Officials have determined that Bobby Winters was at fault for ignoring the stop sign.
