AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Savannah River Officials from both Georgia and South Carolina met Thursday to figure out what to do with an abandoned boat.
The boat was left tied to the 5th Street Bridge almost 3 years ago.
It's now cap-sized and is a hazard to other boaters and the water.
Development Director with Savannah Riverkeeper, Marci Miller, said it's also an eye-sore and they want it gone.
"We had an awesome all agency meeting today. We are in the process of working with South Carolina DNR to get the rest of the paperwork put together so we can properly take the boat out of the water," Miller explained.
Getting it out won't be cheap. The Savannah Riverkeeper is collecting donations to help with the cost, and asking for volunteers to come help get the boat out on August 1st.
