LINCOLNTON, GA (WFXG) - An Evans woman was arrested Thursday in Lincolnton after deputies say she went there to meet up with a child for sexual reasons.
Jasmine Jones was charged with Obscene Internet Contact with a Child, Possession of Drug Related Objects and Possession of Marijuana.
Officials said Jones was communicating with an undercover officer posing as a 14 year old, and engaged in explicit verbal conduct involving sexual conduct. Jones was arrested after she traveled to meet the deputy, who she believed to be the child.
According to Sheriff Bruce Beggs the arrest was made in cooperation with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
"Cooperation is always important in important in law enforcement, but it is never more important than when we set out to protect our children," Sheriff Beggs said.
Jones is currently being held in the Lincoln County Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing.
