Suspects caught in deadly copper theft case

JEFFERSON COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - Two men wanted in connection with a deadly case of copper thievery are now behind bars.  David Wade Jr. and Robert Edmond Brown are facing numerous charges including felony murder, concealing a death, and theft by taking.

Jefferson County authorities say Wade and Brown were attempting to steal copper wire from the top of power poles near the Jefferson-McDuffie line on November 25th along with 39-year old Charles "Chip" Edward Ridenour Jr. when Ridenour was electrocuted.  His body was found near the shoulder of US Highway 221 north of Wrens.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office:

David Wade Jr. was arrested on Saturday evening, 12/19/15 in Beech Island, SC by members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Aiken County Sheriff's Office and Richmond County Sheriff's Office without incident. Wade is currently being held at the Aiken Co. Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings.

Robert Edmond Brown was arrested Monday morning, 12/21/15 in Hephzibah, GA by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Richmond Co. Sheriff's Office without incident. Brown is currently being held at the Jefferson Co. Detention Center. Brown is expected to have a first appearance hearing tomorrow.
