Jacob Peklo

Jacob Peklo is our morning co-anchor, after spending four years as the weekend anchor, producer and multimedia journalist for the ABC affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa.

While in Des Moines, he also worked on several special news projects, for news and sports. He and his weekend news team were nominated for a breaking news Emmy Award for their coverage of the flooding in June and July of 2018.

Before Des Moines, Peklo worked as the bureau chief in Bloomington, Ill. There he reported daily, filled in on the anchor desk and was part of the team that received an Edward Murrow Award for outstanding breaking news team coverage during the Washington tornado in 2013.

Peklo started his career in Sioux City after graduating with a master’s in science of journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in June of 2011.

While in Sioux City, he was nominated for a regional Emmy for ongoing coverage and the capture of a man who shot a Sioux City police officer, and as part of the team coverage the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission’s site visits to Sioux City for a new casino.

When he’s not at work, you’ll probably find him exploring the city of Augusta or traveling around the region.
