AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Augusta Regional Transportation Study, also known as ARTS kicked off the 2050 metropolitan transportation plan Thursday, Sept. 5.
They’re studying everything that has to do with transportation including: travel demand, bridges, public transits, and heavily populated bicycle and pedestrian areas and then deciding what needs safety improvements.
“This plan will go through the year 2050 so it’s a very long-range plan. It will look at all types of transportation. Roads, to bridges, transit, bikes, pedestrians, anything to do with transportation needs to be in this long term transportation plan," said Glenn Coyne, WSP USA Inc. “The planning process requires that there be public involvement, so that will happen at a series of public workshops which will happen later this year and we will also have a website. We will have online surveys available for people to learn about the project, see which project is being proposed and comment on which comments they’d like to see added.”
They’ll be sharing more information at Arts in the Heart starting Sept. 20. The public is invited to share any comments and concerns during the first round of public meetings at the end of the month.
