DEARING, GA (WFXG) - The McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office arrested a son early Wednesday morning after deputies say he shot his father Tuesday evening.
According to McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. at 3724 Randall Rd. in Dearing.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his lower right leg and was transported to the local hospital. The injury is not considered to be life threatening.
Authorities say that 22-year-old Taylor Phillips shot his father then left the scene in a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. At that time, criminal arrest warrants for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, and armed robbery were issued for Phillips.
Phillips was arrested Wednesday morning shortly after 8 a.m. without incident near the location of the shooting.
