The City of Grovetown’s Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing and flushing during May 20-24.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The City of Grovetown’s Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing and flushing during the week of May 20-24.

The fire hydrant testing and flushing will take place in multiple locations: James, Barbara, Pinetree, Phinizy, Elm, Bennett, Williams, George, Dorn, Katherine, Booker, Flythe, Fiske, and Howell Streets; Walton Drive; Saxton Court; 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Avenues; and Joiner Crossing Townhomes.

Notification of fire hydrant testing and flushing will be posted on the City website at www.cityofgrovetown.com and Mayor Gary Jones’ Facebook page.

The City of Grovetown says that residents in the affected subdivisions and areas may experience low water pressure and cloudy or brown water during the testing. The water discoloration is not harmful but could stain laundry so affected residents are advised to avoid using their washing machines during this time and to test that their water has returned to clear before doing laundry.

The hydrant testing and flushing will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
