AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Augusta-Richmond County commissioners toured Lake Olmstead this week, looking at 2 proposed changes: enlarging the Julian Smith Casino and renovating the baseball field.
Papa Joe’s Banjo-B-Que music festival kicks off in just a week. Commissioners say they want to see how it works at the amphitheater.
“We just spent $75,000 on a deck that looks real good. So, what I would like to see is the ballfield converted into an amphitheater.” Commissioner Bill Fennoy says consultants are making recommendations on that transformation. And he, along with some other commissioners, thinks the $10 million estimate for that renovation is unreasonable.
