AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - On Thursday, May 17 the Richmond County Sheriff Office responded to a call around 10:18 p.m. from University Hospital reporting that a man had been shot.
Upon the deputy’s arrival, he found 26-year-old Charvez Lawson injured with an apparent gunshot wound. Lawson told the deputy that he was near the 2100 block of 3rd Ave. to pick up a bucket of chicken from a woman.
As Lawson was leaving the residence on foot between 3rd and 2nd Ave., when he heard around 20 shots being fired near him. The victim told police that he ran towards the fire lane before meeting an unknown subject, who he asked to transport him to the hospital. Lawson had a gunshot wound to his back
The other victim, 26-year-old Marie Shearin told the deputy that she and Lawson were on the front porch when a gray or blue truck with rims, pulled in front of her residence and fired around 20 shots towards them. Shearin was shot in her left hand.
