AUGUSTA (WFXG) -
Today a Blue Star Memorial Marker Dedication was held by the Augusta Council of Garden Clubs, the Garden Club of Georgia, and Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center Fisher House.
The Blue Memorial Marker Dedication program started back in 1945 and continues today to show appreciation for those who defend our country. The marker was placed at the VA’s Fisher House which is known as a home away from home for veteran families. A place where families come when their love ones are going through medical crisis at the hospital.
“I feel this blue star marker pays a good tribute here because a lot of times the families go through passings in the house and this gives them a time to reflect on the love ones who served this country and the price they paid for our freedom," says Courtney Deese who is the Fisher House Manager.
Those in attendance said it is fitting to have the Blue Star Memorial Marker placed at the Fisher house and hopes it brings back memories for families who visit.
