RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - Two Richmond County polling locations are under scrutiny. The Richmond County Board of Elections working to see if they meet the needs of voters.
One location is Augusta University’s Christenberry Fieldhouse on Wrightsboro Rd. There’s been an Ongoing discussion about the infrastructure at the base of that facility not being sufficient or accessible.
The other is Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. The ramp that accesses the room where people vote doesn’t meet the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Richmond County Board of Elections Executive Director Lynn Bailey says, “The board has not voted to move any polling locations but there are a couple that are under discussion. So we’re gather information to see if the move is needed, if we have a viable alternative or if we’re going to stay put. So, no changes yet but it is still under discussion.”
If a change will be made, the board would need to make the decision by November to give adequate public notice.
