NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - MMA fans came out to SRP Park Monday night for the first King of the Cage fight in the CSRA. Rumble on the River II featured four local amateurs, all vying for a $25,000 one-year contract with King of the Cage.

Fans were bummed to miss out on Jason Faglier, Jr., who was one of many fighters unable to fight at the rescheduled date. His little brother, Joel Faglier, still came out putting on a good show. He took down against opponent Marlon Curry, who tapped out 59 seconds into the first round.

Two more from Faglier’s Kempo Karate fought as well. Malcolm Wellmaker, one representing the camp, lowered his 3-0 record to 3-1. Fighting for a title and making her MMA debut, Alexa Wiechert now has a 1-0 record. Her opponent tapped out in 29 seconds. She was one of three title fights for the night.

Thirty-one-year-old Jennifer Waters fought for a title as well. The Edgefield native now has her first loss. She said she’s been training her whole life for this moment.

The main event of the evening, between heavyweight undefeated champion Chad Johnson and Tomar Washington. Washington knocked out Johnson in the first round went home with the title.

Joel Faglier was awarded the amateur contract by King of the Cage.

The fights will be aired on MAVtv in six months.
