WARRENTON (WFXG) - Crews were called out around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning to a fire in the 3600 block of Ansley Road in Warrenton.

Charles Adkins, 65-year-old of Warrenton, who was in the home at the time of the fire has died.

“The fire is believed to have started in the living room of the brick home. A cause has not yet been determined and this case remains under investigation,” said Safety Fire Commissioner Jim Beck.

“The living room of the structure suffered major damage and the rest of the home had damages due to the spreading of smoke and heat.”

The body of Mr. Adkins is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy to be performed. Investigators with the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office are assisting the GBI, the Warren County Fire Department, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
