AUGUSTA (WFXG) - Sen. Bernie Sanders will be making two stops in the CSRA Saturday as part of a visit to several Southern states this week.

Sanders will host an environmental justice town hall in Denmark, SC Saturday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Denmark Technical College, 1126 Soloman Blatt Blvd. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and an RSVP is encouraged.

Sanders will then host a town hall in Augusta Saturday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater, 15 8th St. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and an RSVP is encouraged. Both events are free and open to the public.

Tickets are not required, but an RSVP is encouraged. Entrance is provided on a first come, first served basis.

In South Carolina, Sanders is to release a K-12 education plan on the 65th anniversary weekend of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling. He is also expected to discuss continued segregation in today’s public school system. Along with highlighting the need for immediate action to restore voting rights, address environmental racism, eradicate poverty, and build a government focused on justice for all.
