AIKEN, S.C. (WFXG) - A 19-year-old man, who had been on the run since Saturday, was captured Sunday around 6:30 p.m. in Barnwell County and booked into the Aiken County Detention Center.

Ricky Creech is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime in the shooting death of 36-year-old Jonathan M. Cochran.

Aiken County emergency responders were called out to Edgefield Highway and Jack Jones Street Saturday night. There, Cochran was found with a gunshot wound to his upper torso after being thrown out of a moving vehicle that didn’t stop witnesses told the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office. Cochran was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.

Witnesses told responding deputies Cochran was pushed out of a dark four door vehicle. Those same witnesses had tried to help him before first responders arrived.
