Commission votes to exempt Mayor Davis’ vehicle from having decal

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - In a 6-4 decision, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission voted Tuesday to exempt Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr.'s new vehicle from having a City of Augusta decal.

The topic of the mayor’s new vehicle has been the cause of much tension inside the Marble Palace. Public hearings have been held to get the public’s opinion on the situation. Mayor Davis has maintained that having a decal on his vehicle would compromise the safety of both his staff and himself.

Just before the vote, Mayor Davis spoke, saying that other vehicles in the past had been exempt from having decals.
