AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WFXG) - Police in Lumberton, North Carolina have arrested the man wanted in connection with an April 24 murder in Aiken.
50-year-old Arnold Patrick Reeves was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop on I-95 in Robeson County, North Carolina.
The Lumberton (NC) Police Department acted on credible information to make the traffic stop and the arrest. The vehicle was believed to be occupied by Reeves and a family member. Reeves was taken to the Robeson County Jail without incident where he is being held pending the extradition process. The family member was released at the scene.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 170 Valley Dr., Wednesday, Apr. 24 around 1:30 a.m. for a shooting incident.
When authorities arrived, they found a male victim, 36-year-old Charlie Wenner with a gunshot wound to the chest lying in the driveway. The female witness told deputies that she and the victim had drove to the residence on Valley Dr., at that time, the suspect shot the victim with a shotgun.
50-year-old Arnold Patrick Reeves was wanted in connection to the shooting.
Reeves attempted to get the witness to drive him away from the scene, at this time a struggle over the weapon occurred. The female victim was struck in the hand by gunfire. Reeves fled the area on foot.
Investigators, Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team, and the Aiken County Coroners responded to the scene. However, Reeves was not located during a search of the area.
