AUGUSTA, GA. (WFXG) -Mayor Hardie Davis will have a decal on his city issued SUV – for now.
Commissioners voted 7 to 1 to approve that decal going on the 2019 Tahoe .
A public hearing will be held on April 30th – and you will get the chance to decide whether or not the vehicle needs it or not.
This process is compliant with sate law.
“State law says you have to have a public hearing before that car is issued and I think commissioners seen that and we decided to go forward with what the state law says,” said District 9 Commissioner Marion Williams.
District 7 Sean Frantom echoed his sentiment.
“I mean we can’t violate state law and that’s the reason we had to do what we did today,” Frantom said, referencing the recent vote to accept resignations of the city’s attorney and administrator.
Mayor Hardie Davis, in prior meetings, said he was against the decal due to safety concerns for himself and his staff. He was absent from Tuesday’s meeting.
