AUGUSTA, GA. (WFXG) - The man accused of shooting and killing a 6-year-old was arraigned in Richmond County Superior Criminal Court Friday.

Benjamin Goodson reportedly pointed a loaded shotgun at Eugene Ryder Stamey and shot him in November. The incident reportedly happened in front of another child. A grand jury indicted Goodson in December.

Friday, he pleaded “not guilty” so the case will move forward to a jury trial. Ryder’s mother, who was in a relationship with Goodson at the time of the shooting, was also in court.

Goodson is charged with malice murder, felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first degree cruelty to children and aggravated assault.

This case is assigned to Judge Daniel Craig.
