Suspect in deadly Ellis St. shooting identified, connected to burglary

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - A 14-year-old is dead after a shooting Thursday afternoon on Ellis St. in Downtown Augusta. Now, investigators have identified the suspect who they believe shot and killed the teen.

Camron DeShawn Robinson of Starnes St. was shot at least once. He was taken to Augusta University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:23 p.m. The call came in at 2:47 p.m. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect who show Robinson is a juvenile. The shooting appears to have been accidental and an isolated incident.

The juvenile suspect has not been found, but a pickup order has been issued for him. He is being charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years old. Over the course of the investigation, the suspect and 3 other juveniles were connected to a burglary that happened on the 2000 block of Fenwick St. not long before the shooting. All the juveniles except for the shooting suspect have been apprehended and taken to the RYDC.

Robinson’s body will be sent to GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.
