AIKEN, SC (WFXG) - The search is on for 2 suspects involved in a home invasion in Aiken.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety says they received a call for an armed robbery at a home on the 200 block of Cherokee St. at 4:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon. According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, the suspects knocked on the door. The victim, now identified as 27-year-old Carl Boyd, opened his door and was shot. Boyd was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspects are believed to still be in the area and are considered armed and dangerous. Police set up a perimeter from Park Ave. to Audobon Dr. and from Two Notch Rd to Banksmill Rd., calling in the Aiken Bloodhound Team for support. The suspects were last seen wearing all back clothing and ski masks.
While officers were searching for the suspects, a man by the name of Andrew Harrison was arrested for a hold from the U.S. Marshal Service. His possible involvement in the burglary and homicide is still under investigation.
Public Safety believes the shooting was not random and believe Boyd was targeted.
