RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - A grand jury has charged Benjamin Wesley Goodson with murder in the shooting death of 6-year-old Eugene Ryder Stamey. Back on Nov. 5, Goodson was arrested after he reportedly pointed a loaded shotgun at the young boy and pulled the trigger, shooting the child.
Goodson was later granted bond; something Ryder’s family did not expect. They started an online petition asking for the public’s support. According to reports, Goodson asked the boy if he wanted to see if the gun was loaded. Ryder’s grandmother, Laura Stamey, recalls Goodson asking “Is there anything in it? Y’all wanna see?”
The grand jury has charged Goodson with malice murder, felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree cruelty to children, and aggravated assault.
