RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - Sometimes our interactions with law enforcement are during a traffic stop or crisis.
For National Coffee with a Cop Day, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) partnered with people in the community...to share ideas and concerns.
RCSO has been holding these sessions for about a year at the Starbucks on Bobby Jones Expressway. It gives people a chance to meet on neutral ground and bond over brew!
“It has potential to remove barriers that some people in the community might have with law enforcement. It lets them see that we’re real people. At the end of the day, we’re citizens of this community, as well," said Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Redmon.
The program has been successfully implemented in all 50 states - and nine countries. It’s been going on in the u.s. since 2011.
The sheriff’s office hosts these events quarterly - and it’s open to the public!
