AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection to a murder case more than forty years old.

Betty Jo Lackey was shot and killed during an armed robbery at D.J. Designs T. Shirtery Shack on May 27, 1982. Forty-one years later, almost to the day, the sheriff's office arrested fifty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Deon Mickens for her murder. The sheriff's office says Mickens is homeless.

Investigators arrested Mickens and booked him into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, charging him with murder, armed robbery of a business, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
