COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - GDOT has released an update to its project at the Appling-Harlem interchange in Columbia County.

The Old US 221 bridge demolition project is still underway, requiring nightly closures on I-20.

The westbound ramp to I-20 is still expected to reopen tomorrow, Sept. 28.

Once that reopens, crews will move to the eastbound ramp to complete grading. GDOT officials say they don't expect closures for this project.

If you're traveling northbound, traffic will continue to use the roundabout at Pumpkin Center.

GDOT hopes that roundabout configurations on both sides of the interchange will be in effect by late October.

They say the arrival of rain and storms from Hurricane Ian could slow their schedule.
